There are three main categories that incorporate the primary reasons why humankind must begin converting to a whole-food, plant-based diet.
“The China Study,” by Dr. T. Colin Campbell, is the principal source of scientific information—over 750 relevant studies—showing that the overall health of human beings is best supported by a whole-food, plant-based diet.
Foods rooted in animal meat are shown to be the principal cause of cardiovascular disease, cancer, obesity, diabetes, osteoporosis, and very probably autoimmune diseases.
Moreover, changing from an animal-based diet to a whole-foods, plant-based diet gradually reverses those diseases and conditions—if you don’t go too far or too fast in your effort to recover.
There are many published studies demonstrating this. One example is: “Reversing Heart Disease Without Drugs or Surgery,” by Dean Ornish (MD), published in the Journal of the American Medical Association.
The production of animal foods—including eggs and dairy products—consumes considerable times more in natural resources than required for plant-based foods, and produces more global greenhouse gases than all other sources combined (see <>).
A continued, animal-food-based lifestyle is not only unsustainable, but we are already facing imminent planetary disaster because of it. This is no longer a choice for convenience or preference.
See the disturbing DVD documentary: “Cowspiracy: The Sustainability Secret.”
I am personally convinced, more than ever before, that the next logical step in human conscience, compassion and evolution is to incorporate in our lives a motto and affirmation by Albert Schweitzer: “Reverence For Life.”
To give you a broader picture, see the uplifting DVD documentary: “Peaceable Kingdom: The Journey Home.”
In the real world of large-scale commercial agriculture, there is no longer such a thing as “humane” production of meat, eggs and dairy products, even though some individuals and groups are working hard to institute new improvements in their operations.
To the extent that our budget will allow, “China Study,” “Cowspiracy” and “Peaceable Kingdom” are now being offered free-of-charge in a single DVD package to U.S. residents, as a joint-service project, by L. Miles Standish and The Theosophical Society of Phoenix, Ariz.
Our mailings go out Saturdays only.
